About the Book

“The publication of this book represents the realization of one of my dreams to create a document for our future generations in America that will provide them with basic information about the history of our village Varvitsa in Greece, the heroic contributions of Kapetan Zacharias before the revolution of 1821 and the sacrifices of the people of Varvitsa during the Independence War of 1821. To create this book, I selected parts of the monumental book that my cousin, Nikos D. Matheos, wrote in Greek. Those selections were translated and made up the content of this book with some additional information.”
